MultiFlex Digital

I have SmartSDR installed on my laptop for remote operation using digital modes. I have not attempted to set up CAT/DAX yet on the remote machine.

With internet latency can I expect to be able to operate digital modes remotely, or would it better to just remote into a local desktop that resides on the same network as the flex?

Thanks!

I have a friend who does FTx flawless from remote with smartlink. I also know some others doing such.

Surely you can also use a local destop remoted for taht..but on digimodes i doubt it makes a difference.

CW Contesting , for me , is the only NO GO due to latency

Hi Paul, I would run the digital modes on the computer located with the radio. DAX and CAT can be run there while SmartSDR runs on the computer local to you (using SmartLink). Any of the popular remote desktop products should work fine to control the digital program.

I don't think that DAX works across a WAN connection, so this should be the easiest, most reliable way to go.

Mike, VA3MW has some good YouTube videos regarding remote operation and why you would want to have your digital programs running on the computer by the radio.

    Hi Paul

i have no issues running FT8 remotely using my iphone14 on 5g network to my flex 6600m...

The iphone is a multi-flex connection cause the 6600m back in the shack is also going on two other slices

    monitoring FT8 on 10 & 6m

i do this while taking my dog for her walkabout or while i am doing my own daily walk

yep running ios sdr by marcus...
