where does smart sdr keep the configuration files?

I rarely use smartsdr to talk to the radio I prefer the radios front panel. I upgraded smartsdr to the latest version v2.10.1 I connected via smartsdr some time ago using version 2.7.6. I then saved a radio configuration. Where does it get stored? 2.7.6 will no longer connect to the radio that is at V2.10.1 I need to restore that configuration but cannot find it. Where does it get stored?

The radio's configuration files ( Persistence Database) is stored in the radio.
Here's how to make a backup of the database and restore it once you have updated your radio.

Hi Stephen, the radio (server) and its clients (Maestro, front panel, SmartSDR) all need to be at the same revision level.
In your case, it sounds like you have a 6400M or a 6600M. I am not clear what version you have loaded on the radio, front panel and SmartSDR. Can you let us know what version(s) the various bits are running?

I have a 6400m running V2.10.1 Front panel sw version 2.10.1.22964 I use the knobs on the radio to operate. I don't use the windows software. I only used it to make a backup of my configuration a couple of years ago. I cannot find the configuration file I made.

The problem is that SSDR does not have a default location and instead it is user selectable. Therefore you can find the backup via the Windows Search function. The files are in the following format:
Use File Explorer for the task, using the search box with syntax *.ssdr_cfg
In the event you do not get a result, the file(s) are not locally stored and you will need to refer to your backup system or remote storage.

I think the default location for exporting files is on the Desktop. However, I think it remembers where you choose to export them. You should be able to try another export and see what path it is using.

Yes the SSDR dialogue specifically directs the user to pick a location and it does not have a default:
but it does choose the same selection next time unless SSDR has in the meantime been un/re installed. So between trying another export or making the simple search as above, you will find the file(s) if you have them locally.
