Which is, as we can read in the announcements .. a bad idea:

Many Problems arise by the versions prior to 3.5.9 constantly trying to connect and fail.

This, is .. we are all sure, a complete IT Desaster and in every normal company should cost heads of the responsibles, but we must go thru this, if we don´t want to scrap thousands of Radios ...

So back to 3.5.9 and live a while with the hickups ...

Following their recommendations, I have updated the software to smartsdr 3.5.9 and my radio does not work correctly despite having performed several "cold boots".
Even when I connect my computer directly to the flex, it continually hangs and the message "smartsdr has lost the connection" appears.
I have not been able to log in to smartlink either.

My 6400M is behaving in a similar way. The radio can continue to function, for example if I am on FT8 then JTDX is still transmiting and receiving, but the front panel first shows disconnection and then reboots. This is random, can be while working a station or just receiving and happened several times each day over past two days. I also note that the radio's internet connection comes and goes with 3.5.9

I am also back on 3.5.8 now and problems are gone. Later though I will return to 3.5.9 so as to not add to the connect fail issues and swallow the inconvenience, at least until my tolerance of it expires or until CQ WW RTTY Contest next weekend when I certainly will not be using 3.5.9 and risk these issues.

For remote I use Softether VPN and do not even have a SmartLink account, yet I have its related problems. Please fix it before the Contest and preferably permanently. Non SmartLink Flex users should be isolated from the SL system. Seems a no-brainer to me.

i am 100% with you and just can recommend to Flex to soon implement a fallback to "local only" mode ( L2 LAN ) mode after a few attempts to logon which failed. Also, allow a switchable "L2" only mode that completely locks out smartlink. Next logon try should happen after re-power cycle.

This solves many problems for the M or Maestro users who don´t care about remote usage. Also, sophisticated network users , like here, can rely on L2 VPN´s and will not be affected by anything around smartlink issues .

Here , learn and teach to ABSOLUTELY AVOID anything that has to do with "cloud" in IOT and Industry 4.0 production environments. For my perspective a flex radio is an IOT device and should als be usable in completely isolated environment.

I am having lots of random reboots as well. I just came to the forum to see if this was something going on and see a couple threads about it.

I am running remote but have a camera on the 6600. The rig drops out and the internet connection seems fine and when I look at camera the power button is blinking doing a reboot. So the dropouts are not internet related. The right is just doing random reboots on RX.

I gave up on 3.5.9. I use VPN, not SmartLink, so have reverted to 3.5.8 to solve the issue. But as you are a SmartLink user and that is not an option, I would open a Help Desk ticket. If you are a contester, you surely do not want this over the coming weekend. But contester or not, I would involve Flex and send them video from your camera.
