Installing Smart SDR

Hi after upgrading my HP Desktop PC running MS Windows 10 (All up to date and updated) to Smart SDR 3.5.9. And going through the install then cold boot. Everything is up and running on my HP Desktop. So I go over to my Dell G-3 running MS windows 11 (All up to date) and do an uninstall of version 3.5.8. When I go to install version 3.5.9 I get a stop dialog pop up that says setup/uninstall has stopped working. And I notice during the install the option for smart SDR is grayed out. What is going on ?

I recorded an video here : https://youtu.be/j8xclXyBA9o?si=9FgvI4bVWaixBf72

Thank you.

  • I had a similar problem on my Lenovo Windows 11 laptop. A quick google lead me to your youtube video.

I wasn't getting the 'stopped working' dialog box, but the installer would just close with no error message at the same point and not having installed anything. I remember this happening before with a previous version and found the fix in the forum:

    https://community.flexradio.com/discussion/8024792/unable-to-install-smartsdr-v3-2-39-on-windows-10-laptop

    Right-Click on the installer file.
    Click on "Troubleshoot Compatibility"
    Click on "Try Recommended Settings"
    and follow the directions.

Yes that was weird. But your instructions worked. I read these instructions here: https://helpdesk.flexradio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204975589-How-to-do-a-Complete-uninstall-of-SmartSDR-for-Windows-from-your-PC

I don't understand why Flex does not have some sort of cleanup program written when this happens.

I did get the Smart SDR version 3.5.9 installed on my Dell Laptop.

    Thanks

  • This fixed my problem too. Thanks Chris MM1PTT

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu.
