TGXL - Outstanding
This weekend I operated from home to the W1IMD remote station.
I was thrilled with the performance of the TGXL - for 160m and 80m we use a center-fed sloper with ladder line to a balun and coax to the TGXL. We have tried a number of auto tuners in the past, but they all needed some attention during a contest.
With the TGXL I could go anywhere on 160 or 80 without concern that the PGXL would encounter high SWR. Worrying about the antenna was no longer an issue.
The TGXL does well on the other bands trimming up beams. The real test is the impedance swings presented by the 160/20 sloper.
While I am at it, the performance of the 6300 continues to impress me. I have no CW stutters or dropouts. I am using 2.4.10. SmartSDR makes the 6300 a great contest radio.
The proof is in the performance. With this remote setup, I had over 2,000 contacts and just shy of 4 million points. Of note were 40 countries on 160m and 70 countries on 80m.
The TGXL just works. Thanks TGXL, thanks Flex.
