Pros and Cons: Remote Op of TGXL and PGXL

Comments and Opinions Please…

Operating TGXL and PGXL Utilities via Remote Desktop at the Station Site

vs. via Port Forwarding to respective utilities on Remote PC

…keeping in mind, PGXL shows up imbedded in SmartSDR; TGXL does not (for now?)

Thank you

I use Node Red which takes to the amp and tuner using the TCP API directly. Allows monitoring and control from any web browser, along with other equipment in the shack such as rotor control, AC and DC switching, and antenna switching.

...any other opinions or input on this?

I re-watched Michael's YouTube video on remote operation where he draws a vertical line between the functionality retained at the PC on site and what is performed on the Remote PC.

Right now I have the utilities for the TGXL and PGXL (and Green Heron GHE rotor control) on the site side, accessing them via Google Remote Desktop, and SmartSDR on the Remote PC side (with the PGXL also embedded there) and it's working great and doesn't require port-forwarding. It seems to be very reliable.

    What am I missing...if anything?
