6600 Diversity weird behaviour

I have a yagi (ANT1) and and End Fed antenna (ANT2) on 40m, my purpose is to listen in Diversity mode to catch both DX and locals.
If I just open 1 panadapter on ANT1 and press DIV, the second slice does indeed appear, showing ANT2 in RX, but RX is muted: S meter down to 3 and RX is deaf.
After playing around, the only way to make it work is:
- open a second panadapter
- enable FDX
- tune 2nd panadapter to any band different than 40m
- select ANT2 on 2nd panadapter
Only in this setup I see the S meter going up in the second slice on panadapter 1 and do indeed hear the signals from the end fed in the right ear.
I rebooted the Flex remotely (through FRstack) a few times but I always get back to this situation; the only troubleshooting I was not able to do yet is turning the flex off / on as it's remote (not remote power on yet).
Any clues ?
I think to remember it working normally as I first tried DIV, I guess right now the software is in a weird state...
