Captures computer microphone

in SmartSDR for Windows
I have a Flex6500 that I just obtained and hooked up and am running SmartSDR for windows and it is working pretty well. I am using the factory microphone plugged into the front of the radio. I went to use the Echolink application on the same computer and it would not transmit any audio. I checked the computer security and it showed SmartSDR has the microphone captured in use. I am not using the microphone built into the computer but cannot find a way to release the microphone so I can use it with other programs. Anyone else run into this issue. Any help would be appreciated.
