SmartSDR installation failed

Using new installation of updated Windows 10 following a windows crash. Radio is Flex6500. Deleted all references to Flex, SDR, CAT, DAX and rebooted prior to attempt to install SmartSDR v2.7.6, where installer failed to complete until I ran the SDR installer in Windows 8 compatibility mode. Why was windows 8 compatibility required?

Thanks, Mike, K6DRY

It shouldn't have been. You broke your computer and did a new installation of windows. A fresh reboot is your friend. With every step you should have rebooted the computer after running windows update after reinstalling. Reboot the thing again. Then before doing anything else install your ssdr in one step with the included dax and cat and the reboot again. Then turn on the radio from. A cold start and choose it and st to auto connect your cat and dax and radio. I never never know on the op desk had an installing failure when cold power off and discoed b+ and rebooting the computer after every step. Of course it doesn't say reboot, like all other software usually does... just a thought. Id clean it off. And reboot both and start over...
