Powered speakers

I just got my 6400 and when I plug in the powered speakers, there is an audible tone! It is a stereo plug. The radio is off. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Cy, It sounds like you might have a ground loop. Amazon sells ground loop isolators for $10 - $12 USD. I have a set of very old LabTek speakers that have the problem and the isolator cured it. Since then, I bought a set of Creative T-10 speakers that do not have the issue. I use the isolator anyway and get great sound with no ground loop noise.

Thanks for the tip. It was bad speakers. I put them on a computer and had the same problem. I have another powered speaker that should work okay now. But this AM, the guys came to replace my roof.....and cut all the wire antennas!!!!!
