Re QSK

I assume that the Power Genius amp does not support QSK?

Hi Gary. According to the QST review in the January 2021 edition, it does not support full QSK. It has a turnaround time of 13 ms as measured by the ARRL. It doesn't leave you holding for long, but it is not instantaneous.

Thanks Les. Cannot seem find a amp that does. I have moded my ALS 600 and works great but would a amp that auto switches bands. That seem to be what prevents the QSK.

Hi Gary, well the Elecraft KPA 500 and KPA 1500 amps do feature full QSK. I have not seen the turnaround times, so I don't know how fast they really are, but I can say that my KPA 500 switches faster than I can send (25 or so WPM).

The Elecraft amps really integrate well with the Flex 6000 series radios. I also have the KAT500 tuner, and as I tune up and down the bands, I can hear the relays click as the tuner keeps up with the radio. Changing bands changes the amp and tuner instantly and without intervention from me. The analogy is that it is like having a 500 watt radio.

I do like my Flexicraft radio...
