low audio output
I am using a Flex 6600 with a Radiosport headset. I have been getting more and more reports that my
audio has no PUNCH. I have tried many settings with no luck. Is there anyone that can help me get a
more audio punch while using my flex 6600 and my radiosport headphones? Thanks

Hi Lee, using Full Duplex (FDX), you can see your own signal and use the TX EQ to boost or cut audio frequency ranges to increase punch. Ken, NM9P posted some excellent videos on YouTube that you might want to watch. He explains in detail exactly how make the adjustments.
When using Ken's technique, I record the receive side and play it back to see how I sound over the air. This method gets me lots of good audio reports.

Just to clarify your problem I'm asking the following questions:
1) Does another mic have more punch?
2) Is your processor on, if so which level (Norm.DX, DX+)
3) Equalizer settings. I think that FLEX has a factory EQ profile for the Radio Sport headset.
When I got my 6500 my friends told me that my S-Line , KWM-2 and K3 had more punch than the Flex ( using the same mic on all radios). What I found was that I had my FLEX EQ settings all set below the 0 level. After increasing the the EQ sliders above the zero line while keeping the same frequency profile I started to see between 5 to 10 db of compression on the flex control panel with the audio VU meter staying out of the red (processor set to normal). The Equalizer levels appear to affect SSB TX gain. Problem fixed with good audio quality reports. I dont like to run a lot of compression, but a little is OK. My 6600 behaves the same way as the 6500.

As above, this sounds like a gain/compression issue. Contrary to above, I believe in compression. I leave the eq flat, and up the mic gain to get the desired compression using DX+. One caution, the mic level on the meter is measured before the eq, so increasing eq levels will boost power out without showing more level on the meter. It’s possible to overdrive the tx audio chain using eq settings. I adjust the tx bandwidth to approx. 250-3000 for a 2800khz bandwidth.

Make sure your BIAS is enabled if its an Electric MIC and you can turn on the 20DB boost setting, and YES the TX EQ should have at least the MID range up above ZERO a little bit to make sure your Audio looks flat, You don't want to many real High's or Low's that make your audio to sharp or to much Base not enough Mid Range your audio will sound mushy.
