Transverter Output

I am thinking of acquiring a transverter for my Flex-6700. The transverter that I am considering is only available with a 28 MHz IF. I was wondering if the transverter output is capable of transmitting outside of the normal ham bands...say 31 Mhz?

The 6400M/6600M User Guide (page 34) says “the XVTR port can be used for low level transmit on HF/6M without any transmit frequency restrictions.”

May I assume that this is true for the 6700 as well?

Hi Ed, you can test it. Set up a Xvtr on your 6700 (you don't need an actual Xvtr). Open two panadpters and set FDX on. On the first panadapter, select your Xvtr and set to tx. On the second go to the freq you are interested in (e.g. 31 MHz). Transmit on the Xvtr freq that corresponds to 31MHz. If you see your sig on the second panadpter, you will know that it is working.

Sounds good, Len, I will give this a try.

    Thanks!

Looks like I am in business based upon Len's suggestion!

I suspected that I could transmit outside of the standard ham bands via the transverter output, but it was not absolutely clear in the Flex-6700 documentation.
