3.1.8 vs 3.1.12

I have been having a problem with the upgrade? to v3.1.12.  When I start the radio it goes through it's regular routine and stops with the different versions menu and  tells me to choose a version.

I installed the new version according to instructions and performed a cold booth of the radio.

I went back to v3.1.8 and everything starts the way it should without any stopping during the start-up.

This is the first time in  1 1/2 years with the 6400M that I've had a problem like this after a new version down load.

Any thought on why this version is having a problem with my system?

I'd appreciate knowing how the start up is actually supposed to work. Specifically, I recently upgraded from Ver. 2.6.1, (which is what was installed on my 6600M when I first got  it from the previous owner) to Ver 3.1.12 (skipping all the earlier Ver 3 versions). When I power the radio on,  it goes to the screen showing 3 active  versions with 3.1.12 at the top and 2.6.2 and 2.4.9 underneath. .  I ALWAYS have to choose one of these to have the radio complete start up. From Leo's comment - you mean that it should be going directly to the panadapter after I press the Power On button, without me having to choose the version from the list? If so, what am I doing wrong, or what do I have to do to skip this step?  It is annoying since I have no intention of ever using  Ver 2.6 again.

The radio goes through set-up procedure without stopping to choose version after the initial choice.

How are you starting and shutting down the radio?
are you holding the power button in until it shuts down or just a quick press?
Should only take a tap on the power button to start and shut down the radio once the correct version is installed.
If this is a 6400M or 6600M are you doing it from the front panel on the radio?
It needs to be done FIRST on the front panel then you want to load SmartSDR 3.1.12 on the computer and make sure you ALWAYS click on the 3.1.12 shortcut on SmartSDR.

You should only have to select version 3.1.12 and make sure your version is CORRECT
so NO arrows up or down then click operate the one time if ALL your devices are updated.

You should NOT downgrade to version 3.1.8 as per the release documents with 3.1.12

If you read my note , you can see that I have had this radio for a year and a half and have gone through many version upgrades during that  time without any problems.

If you have something new I would appreciate it,  but please read what is stated.

What I would do is do a full factory reset, not a cold re boot. Then re install 3.1.12 again. the release notes say that going back to 3.1.8 is not advisable. It sounds like doing this may have messed up the radio. Try the factory reset and see if that clears things up for you.
