3.1.11 IP Version 6 ???? Use

Crashed and Lost Com Ports 3 times today.
I used the recommended recovery procedures Per Tim Flex Radio page and the provided Virtual Com removal tool.

Each time all went well and new Com Ports I manually recreated and each time radio worked except on a computer reboot.

My IT tech happen to be over and asked him to pull a LOG on the crashes and he says that Version 3.1.11 is trying to use IP Version 6 which I dont currently have supported.

Next I down graded to V3.1.8 and all my Comm Ports recreated again and all is now normal on subsequent restarts.

Is anybody experiences this besides me?

I'm also running Windows version 8.1

Pardon my naivete:  What is IP Version 6 and how would I check for it?
    Thanks.

It looks like I was having a hardware failure on my Dell7800.
    So not sure IP6 applies.

I should have remembered.  They ran out of numbers IP 4.  Sorry about the PC.  Hope it's an easy repair.

I don’t think ipv6 is the problem.  If it is com ports then, you may want to delete VSPmanager and then do a SmartSDR reinstall.  I might even do a CAT reset.  Sounds like com registry is AFU.  Any way it will not hurt anything and may clear up your problem.  Ipv6 is transparent, computer works with it just as it does ipv4.  Ipv6 will be used as needed by external services (except Flex) on some web sites.  An example is Speed Check app on my iPad, it will select sites ipv6 address when testing for network speed and sometimes ipv4 address depends on the site’s operational algorithm. So ipv6 will NOT cause any port problems.

I windows open a terminal window type in ipconfig.  This will give complete listing of all ipv4 and ipv6 addresses as well as local address both ipv4 and ipv6.

Not sure about your network set up, but if you are using a switch, the connection lights should come on if port is working at hardware level.  If it is working, then open a terminal window and ping a known IP address, like your radio or router.

Is it my interpretation from the above discourse that ipV6 will not be supported by FlexRadio?

Hi Chet, I have not heard Flex weigh in on this, so I wouldn't make any assumptions. It is probably more accurate to say that at the moment, Flex uses IPv4. What happens in the future is anyone's guess.
