Anyone know when a software update is coming? Hope they will add some eye candy because the same old screen layout is getting boring.

Flex ceased giving dates for software releases several years ago

Eye candy update is the least of the issues that need to be worked so don't count on that.

At the Orlando Hamfest, Flex told us that a new release was being worked on and it would come out “soon”.   Flex does not give dates, but after asking a few pointed questions, it seems that the release may have been targeted for the Dayton time period.  But with the world looking very different today, that could obviously change.

re: "When will the new software release come out?"

Official answer:   When it is ready.

Also, regarding boring layout;  Is that something any vendor changes with any product?
Does your Nikon or Sony camera get a new user interface with each firmware update?
How about your printer, or computer network router, or your cell phone?
How about your Icom or Yaseu?  Entirely new layout, or same old boring thing?

Neal rolls his eyes, shakes his head, and crawls back under his rock...

Because he / she or the previous owner had a MARS license or other documentation and got the proper turf file from FLEX to do it. If your not a Active MARS member or other government affiliate you won't get access to the Chicken Band and if you purchase a Radio with the improper TURF file and use it on anything other then Amateur frequencies then you are running illegal and should get the proper turf file from FLEX that doesn't have the MARS frequencies activated.
