Panadapter with No info

Sometimes when I turn on my 6300 I get no signals on the panadapter, even with DAX working fine. And if I choose any profile the issue is fixed. It does not happen always neither frequently but it does happens sometimes.

Any idea?

I see this occasionally, but it is when using a VPN with high latency. Sometimes, choosing "low bandwidth" at the radio chooser screen will "fix" it.. I've not had it change by selecting different profiles. de Mark WA2MCT.

Thanks Mark. In my case when it happens I just choose any profile and it fixes it or I can restart SmartSDR.

My 6600 does that quite frequently when I change from one band to another. I just pick a spot after changing bands and double click in order to get the display back where I want it. Having the 6600 for 1 year and still learning !

Just wondering, have you gentlemen renamed the default profile to something else? Or created all sorts of profiles and deleted default? Just an idea. Erika DD

I created new profiles and left Default untouched, just in case I need to go back to it sometime.

It was just a thought, the only time I have lost a Flag was deleting it myself by accident.  Hope you can figure it out.  Erika DD

This happens to me about every other day. I never worry about it and thought it was probably related to how I shut down. Sometimes I just flip the switch on the Astron

Yikes, you're teasing me...  Watch the lights flash after you press the shut down sequence on the rig, There's a lot going on there.  Wouldn't it miss all those little processes if ONE YANKS THE PLUG...

I've been feeling pretty good about the way the rig has been working lately, that last cumulative update didn't **** the computer up...  Even money it blows itself up as I sit down to operate the ARRL DX Phone this weekend...  Catch you on the bands Rich, hope you had a good day...  Erika DD

We have a defect entered for this behavior.  What we suspect is happening is that when a client connects to a radio, one of the processes it goes through is to restore the previous radio operating state.  This process takes into account any band persistence and any previously loaded profiles to recreate the pandapter and slice configurations. There are a lot of things happening the forst time a client connects to the radio and what we suspect is a race condition occurs where a dependent process has not finished before the software tries to create the slice receiver(s).  Since the dependency does not yet exist, the creation of the slice receiver(s) fails.

As has been noted, slow connections between the radio and the client can exacerbate the race condition.  And simply reloading a new profile once the initial restoration of the previous radio state fails will succeed.

Hopefully, we'll be able to identify exactly what is responsible for the race condition and add the appropriate wait states in the start-up logic to prevent this from happening in the future.

I would add, that if I connect using my vpn, to a 6400, this happends consistently. I get the radio up, and can use it, but no info showing in the pan or waterfall... but if I key in a frequency, I can listen, and transmit. It seems the VPN adds latency of course. It's like driving a non-SDR radio without that info being displayed. I can also "tune aroud" moving the flag. 6400/SDR 3.1.8 de WA2MCT  UltraVPN which shows 20ms latency and 15meg up/ 20 meg down on somewhat public network, at my office. Same thing happends at home where I have Spectrum.

    Thanks Tim for the response.

Hopefully it gets solved in the future. For the moment is not really a deal breaker or an operation threat issue and certainly we can live with that.
