Slice and Band button on screen

I sometime use the slice and or band button on the screen of my 6400M and have noticed some odd behavior. When I use the slice button on 75 meters and leave it on and then change bands say to 40 meters and then go back to 75, I can not use the slice button to get the display back to where it was before I left 75 previously. I hope I am making the circumstances clear.
Is this behavior normal or is it 'persistence'?
