I'd like to be able to share my station with a blind friend / ham. [NF5B}
Any guidance from the community?
Thanks.

    Mike, my experience, with a blind member of our group, is dated and I would like to hear some updates from Flex or other owners.
    The biggest basic problem is SmartSDR screens are not tagged for screen readers such as JAWS; they do not identify mouse-over fields.
    A second recommended (5 years ago) suggestion was to utilize a heads-up interface through the API that would vocalize some "knob settings".
    Neither available to the general ham community.  **That I know of**

    Hi Stan.
    Fingers are crossed, maybe someone has found, or made, a way.
    I have 2 friends that can no longer see and spend a lot of time listening.
    I'd like to put them back on the air if possible.
    All the best.

    What about the built in Window 10 Narrator? Will that work with SSDR?

    fyi...I'm blind in my right eye and the left is middle of the road. That's one of the reasons I picked an SSDR radio over conventional rigs with small knobs and buttons that can be difficult to see.

    Welcome
    I am happy owner of FLX6600 since seven months, and i am fully blind operator. The SMARTSDR for Windows has a little low level of accessibility with NVDA Screen reader. Several controls such as checkboxes are accessible by space bar, so entering frequency, adjusting the filters or EQ are possible, however it is not enough to fully perform all task on the radio. The better solution is running SMARTSDR for iOS, where most function are fully accessible with VOiceOver iOS capability. Personally i not fully tested the ft8 feature on iPad version, but on the iPad performing tasks are more comfortable than on the smaller screens of iPhones. The second solutions is the DOGPARKSDR client for MacOS which are fully accessibility and designed very well according the guide lines of accessibility APPlitacions from Apple. So the remote access is possible through these two Applications and smartlink connection, of course the remote plug smart plug are also most helpful. The kasa app on iOS are fully accessible with VoiceOver too. The amplifier such as power genius XL are managed from DOGParkSDR SDR with out problems. Another stuff need assistance. I have got the expert1kfa fully automatic and driven through usb cat emulation from the radio. The touch buttons i sighed by stickers so i am able to tune with my self tut in to operate mode or stand at and adjusting the RF Power.
    Kind regards
    Lukas SQ9BZ
    ps. The iOS app has Siri shortcut integrity so it is possible to prepare common task with VOice commands.
    I am available on the FaceTime and WhatsApp with my telephone number:
