Well it’s a gain control. In this case it adds a none linear function. When you slide the control to the left you are moving a transition point. With a strong signal move it to the left until the volume reduces move right a little for good listening. The knee point is a transition where the signal level goes down or up. Weak signals would require you to move it to the right to maintain a good listening level. Strong signals to the left will eliminate annoying noise. You just need to work with it to get to know how it functions.0

That confusing part it works great for sure I never Use NR or NB -confusing part on other radios is AGCT called RF Gain ??? I found my 6400M has best receiver I had all top rigs None touch 6400M0

In older radios that used mixers to to filter down through one or two. IF Frequencies then demodulates to audio. The first stage would have an adjustable RF GAIN. The actual ACG function was in the audio chain of the radio. But it would only have a fixed function ie fast med slow. AGC-T functions is like it but has a variable ability to simulate the older variable RF gain control, so it does both in the digital realm, including the off, fast, med and slow reaction speeds.0
