Windows 7 and SmartSDR on an IMAc....almost but not quite!

I am trying to get SmartSDR working on Windows 7 on my Imac and got everything going except one pretty major issue: I cannot get the panadapter working. The button in the lower left of the screen is completely greyed out and I've tried varous things but no joy. In fact since I loaded Win 7 on my Imac I've never seen the panadapter work yet. I am able to get WSJT-X working now. I do hope this isn't a router issue! Anyway I am using the Flex6400M directly connected to my Imac late 2009 version. The computer is more than enough to run this program I'm quite sure! So what am I doing wrong? I am also using SliceMaster. Forgive me for my ignorance but the terminology "slice" always is throwing me. I need one slice per session yes...but how to create it? Anyway if someone can help me get the panadapter going that would be very helpful. Also the S-meter on the SMartSDR screen never has worked either. No audio getting in to Smart SDR ?Attached is a screenshot.

Are you using bootcamp or an emulator? If Parallels or VMWare, make sure your network is set to bridged.

I'm using Bootcamp. So it is direct, no emulator.0

Maybe I need basic training. In SmartSDR CAT, does it matter what I select? One is Flex 6400M and the other has my callsign. There are just way too many combination of options that I end up here for hours getting nowhere. My bad. I just want it to work basically, connect, then I can take it from there. I have been using computers since the early 80s and I've never seen anything confound me quite like this. Ideas?

Your callsign would be the SmartLink connection, which will not work locally - you need to pick your (local) radio name in the chooser, in DAX / CAT / SSDR.0

OK I switched over to Flex 6400M in the SmartSDR CAT selector. It says PC AUDIO in the SmartSDR window at the top. Not sure if you're familiar as this is the Windows version. So I get NO S-meter reading on SmartSDR onscreen, and no panadapter at all. This is silly. It has gotta be something I am doing wrong but I've been fiddling for hours and it may well be more serious.I get movement in the meter on the DAX control panel (on receive) but SmartSDR isn't getting anything signal-wise

TEd, perhaps you can help get my Mac version going. Can we chat?0

I tried bootcamp with a lot of intimidation. I bought a subscription to Parallel and my problems vanished. Parallel to me is the most versatile VM there is.0

Sure. Best to take this off-line, then summarize afterwards. On your Windows SSDR, if you are using v3, there is an extra step, in that you need to choose one of two possible connections. Having abandoned v3 a while ago, I don’t remember the details. My email is good on QRZ, then we can arrange a real-time connection, phone or whatever.0

Yes, unfortunately, no matter how much you'd like to avoid Windows altogether, it is not possible. If you need to do certain things (like updates, profile backups, etc) you are _required_ to have a Windows version of SSDR running against your Flex transceiver.
Personally, I keep a cheap laptop running Windows 10 for just that purpose, although I have Parallels on my iMac with Windows 7 installed (I use that for RMS Express, although I do have SSDR installed there also, and have used it).0 -
I was successful, finally, getting Win 7 SmartSDR going. I didn't realize that on version 2.4.9 that I could only choose between the radio screen being on and the computer. Now to get v3 working lol0

Now trying to get v3 going. I am having issues with getting the TX AND RX slice both available at the same time. Is this because I have two entries in the CAT section? I don't know. I can get either TX or RX slice active depending on which STATIOn I choose. Could someone enlighten me? The DAX is enabled in the radio itself (1). I feel so dumb you wouldn't believe it.0

Here is a screen capture of my dilemma.0

As you see, I can only get TX going and not receive. When I switch to the other STATION, the opposite occurs. I know this is me but I just am not getting this.0

I prefer Bootcamp over emulators. It's a lot faster. Direct hardware access is great.0
