FLEX 6500 OVERSHOOT TO transverter
Doug Allen
Member ✭✭
The FLEX 6500 is configured and works well with my Elecraft 2M XVTR at 0 dBm input to the Elecraft, but there is bad bad OVERSHHOOT at all settings I've tried. This overdrives the XVTR well beyond specs for a fraction of a second at the beginning of any DIGU or SSB transmission. I'm afraid for the safety of my transverter and afraid to use my 150 watt brick which will also be dangerously overdriven by the XVTR. I've tried the DAX TX streaming and WINDOWS soundcard DAX TX audio levels, but haven't been able to correct the problem.
If I can solve this problem I'll be able to run more than 20 watts in the CQWW VHF contest this weekend. Any similar experience or ideas?

Doug can you show details with value? I am utilize 3 transverter by DEMI with my 6700 without overshoot issue. BTW no changes in transverter setup within transition between SSDR versions 1-2-30

Control the drive to the transverter in the Transverter Setup tab. You can define a maximum drive level. Save it in your TX Profile. You can also control the transverter drive via the power output slider in the transmit control panel of SSDR. But setting a maximum drive in the transverter setup is safer. In V.3, there is a new TX setup form where you can set individual power maximum levels for each band, then save the whole chart as part of a TX Profile.0

Ken has it right... check you XVTR settings also what are the jumper settings for your transverter? I have two 144 and 432 and no overshoot problem.. here are my settings to help

Thanks David,
My settings are the same as yours above, and i have the Elecraft JP jumpers set for 1 milliwatt. It works FB except for the overshoot which may be related to my Mic Steam driver error and the wrong setting of DAX Reserved Audio RX 1 which is the only choice i can get to work.
BTW, I have the 222 and 432 Elecraft transverters and hope I can get them working with the Flex 6500

Doug, they work well.. I use mine for Sat work and no issues.0

Thanks for feed back. I have come to the conclusion that there is no significant Flex overshoot problem and that the problem is in my Elecraft transverter.0
