Not quite, you can do it with a short adapter to change from 8 pin to modular which plugs into the back of the Maestro. You also need a power supply as flex does not provide enough for the microphone, Yaesu do one for the microphone It all works fine on mine

Im not sure you are correct as the MD-100 comes with a reversible modular/foster cord. Also the MD-100 is a dynamic mic so why would I need a power supply that is required for an electret mic. Would only need to power the internal filtering in the MD-100

You are sort of correct and wrong. The MD100 has the reversible plug and the modular end will go into the Maestro. You can use the Dynamic Mic but the PTT in the M100 is not your normal switch and needs power for it to work, more than the 6700 or Maestro can provide. You could push the MOX button which works fine. The M100 has dual elements Dynamic and Electret, you can choose either or both. Once you select electret you need the power supply which then works the M100 with any combination, works the PTT on the stand and illuminates the various lights on the microphone. The downside is that the Yaesu power supply only seems to work when plugged into the foster connector of the M100 cable. The adapter is needed for the Maestro but obviously not the Flex 6700. I am sure it could all be rewired with different plugs I just haven’t looked.

What mic(s) will work with the Maestro? I find the FHM-3 is not correct.

Hi Gerry, The FHM-3 will work with the Maestro but needs a different cable from the one that plugs into the back of the radio. You can check with Flex sales to be sure that you get the correct cabling for your mic.

EDIT: Here is a link to the cable:
