no firewire connection?

5000A. Just installed a fresh Power SDR (with an alleged new 5000A).  I followed the install instructions to a tee. When I launch PSDR (Admin) it says I need a firmware update - I click OK, then it just sits there and finally says 'not responding'. Windows 10.

In device manager, I noticed that the Windows FireWire driver is Microsoft, dated 2006. Is that correct? (I thought a Flex driver was required). What do I know...

Alan, I have a Flex 3000, which also works with firewire.
It runs without problems on both my Toughbook CF-52 Windows7pro notebook and my Getac S400 Windows 10pro notebook. I run PowerSDR 2.8.0.115 by KE9NS.
