Great compilation Dewey! Just for clarification I did receive mine as part of the alpha group, for those looking at how order numbers are related to delivery dates. Justin KL2D

Jim is the fan noise bothersome even when the amp is idling, or when it's operating at max output?  Or both?

I don’t find the fan noise to be that bothersome, and my PGXL sits literally right in front of my face (you can see pics on QRZ). There has been a lot of work on the algorithm that controls the fans over the last year and I think it’s much better. Of course, if you go full FT8 or RTTY at legal limit the fans are going to spin up pretty good to keep it cool. But they are very effective and if you stop transmitting they spin back down pretty quickly. Depending on the fan mode, they are very quiet or even off when the amp is in “operation” but idle and cool. Just my 2 cents.... YMMV, and of course different folks have different needs/tolerances. 73 Justin KL2D

As Justin said, I believe that they worked on the fan noise after I sent mine back. It made noise all the time. Flex seemed to be aware of the issue and asked if that was the reason I was sending it back. I described it as a hovercraft in the slow mode and a Saturn rocket taking off in the full cool mode. Your mileage might vary!! I am a mostly SSB guy and don't appreciate background noise.

I thought of one other thing I could add that would maybe be helpful regarding fan noise. I had an Alpha 9500 before the PGXL, and with the current firmware I don’t feel that the PGXL is louder than the alpha, and to me at least seems quieter. Although Jim is right, the earlier firmware versions could be pretty noisy.

Agree, and I sure wish I knew how long "a bit longer" was going to be.  I'm considering buying a SPE Expert 1.5K-FA V2, then maybe re-visit the purchase of the PG-XL after the product stabilizes.

I cancelled a 2016 SPE Expert order for PGXL.   I feel your pain.

The letter (email) was dated 2/25.  I agree Gerald sounded upset.  The sad thing is I really want this amp and the matching tuner.  I know a couple of guys that are using the amp; they are heavy users and absolutely love it.
