Suggestion to 3rd Party developers - RE: DX Spot info format

I've been playing with both FlexLogger and SliceMaster 3rd party software to push spots to SmartSDR and Maestro. I could be wrong but it seems that the 3rd party software is able to determine what spot information is shown on the display of SmartSDR when you do a mouse over the spot. The same for Maestro but for purposes of this discussion I'll keep it to SmartSDR.

For FlexLogger the current format is:
    Line 1 - Date/Time Z
    Line 2: comment
FlexLogger is what it is called currently, is under development, take a look at it, pretty cool.

For SliceMaster the current format used is:
    Line 1 - Date/Time Z
    Line 2: [spot callsign] @ - minutes ago] spot comment [mode]
if the call sign is too large both the callsign and mode are omitted.

If 3rd party software can indeed determine what spot data is shown, please consider the following. Please add the ability for one to manipulate what spot data is displayed on each line of the mouseover. Maybe a text box for each line or check box to determine what is on each line. If the data to be displayed is too large to fit, like if the spot callsign is long and takes up most of the room on a line then either omit data, shrink font size or add a 3rd line for the overflow. 


Now on the other hand if I concluded wrong and SmartSDR totally controls what and where to display the spot information, then it would appropriate to add this option to the Spot Settings Menu.

Hi Mike,

It's a combination of both really.  SSDR controls the first line while the second line is controlled by the program sending the spot.  I havent figured out how to get a third line in there.  Slice Master typically has much more information to display but no place to put it.  What exactly depends a lot of the spot source and which logger you are using.  If you use Slice Master's spot overlays on a popped out panafall, you can see a bit more of it.  

Allowing the user to control what is displayed in either the overlay is entirely possible.  As would allowing the user to control what gets displayed on the second line of the SSDR display.  Who knows, we might even be able to convince Flex to all the spot sender to control the first line and maybe a third.

I'll add an item to my to-do list.
