New Computer W 10 / 64 bit Pro Updat prevention

My new computer less then a week old , I would like to use as my Flex 6600 computer . Today I read on the Flex Community about all the problems with Windows 10 updates and I would like to prevent or make it an easier task to update problems.

I want the Windows Updates but I would like to know before they install ! Question , should I use under Settings / Windows Update / Advanced Options / ( deferred for this many days )  ?

From what I think I know, I need to Uninstall before the Updates , SSDR and I'm not sure if I need to Uninstall Dax or VSP's ?  I reed today that folks are Uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller with good success. I installed Revo today .

Have I overlooked a knowledge base to make Windows Update painless ?

Thanks for all info and help you can offer , Ed N5DG

The problems with the WIN10 updates effect the drivers for DAX and CAT more then anything else.
Be sure to create a Exported Profile to your Desktop or other directory that  REVO won't delete the Profile and Memory file backups.

Bret , thanks , yes that is what I was reading today , Do the saved profiles save the Dax and cat ? I'm asking for the procedure or steps to take before a big windows update. Saving my profiles is one step on the list

DAX is pretty straight forward and not many things to customize on it, CAT however, I have found to simply do a screen shot (picture) of the CAT control panel, I have found they aren't saved in "Profiles"  reliably if at all.

If you catch the computer before the updates start I make sure I  have a resent profiles saved and take a screen shot.
Then uninstall SmartSDR which also uninstalls  DAX.
Then uninstall SmartCat, Do NOT UNINSTALL the CAT drivers at this point
Then run REVO or IOBIT uninstaller to remove the remnants of both SmartSDR and SmartCAT.
then after the Upgrade, re-install SmartSDR Import the exported Profile and reconfigure CAT

There are way's to turn off WIN10 Updater in Windows services that you can do a google search for instructions on how to do this which is what I do here and then when the major updates have been out for a while I un-install the FLEX stuff and turn the Updater back on and do the Updates on my OWN TIME then turn it off and re-install SmartSDR.

Your mileage will vary but should get you pretty close.

SSDR is still running on my main Windows7 64bit notebook, but I also use a Windows10 64bit notebook for remote work.
I run the update manager for windows on this notebook and block any updates I don't want
