Flec-3000 firewire cable for laptop

Hi and thanks in advance. I want to run my Flex-3000 from a Dell Inspiron laptop. The Dell has a 4 pin firewire port. Is it possible to run a six pin on one end and a four pin on the other end of the Firewire cable? I'm very new to this SDR radio thing and sorry for the lame question. Merry Christmas to all. yes if the computer has enough horse power and the Drivers for the Firewire adapter are well built and not glitchy just buy the proper really HI QUALITY 4 to 6 pin Firewire cable.
I run my FLEX3000 on my Panasonic Tough Book and it doesn't run to bad.

    73's and good luck

There are several sources on the internet for Firewire adapters to convert 4->6 and vise-versa.  I am running a 6->4 adapter on my Gateway with my 3000, no problems what

Hi ken ive a dell inspiron 9300 laptop...i use a 2 port 6pin pcmcia firewire card with my flex3000...dont get a combi card...ie usb and firewire together...the dell laptop is 14years old and running windows 10pro 32bit...works very well with the 3000..the 4pin might work not well with the 3000...6pin on the 3000 to 6pin on the plug in pcmcia firewire only card and your good to go..remember its firewire 400mbit firewire "a" not "b"...800mbit.
