Help needed with 6600M to SPE 1.5K-FA issue

I have very recently bought an SPE 1.5K-FA amplifier and I am having a problem with a loud "click" when the amplifier is on use on CW and as the 6600M returns to receive. It doesn't matter if I am using QSK (lots of clicks), semi break-in or a foot switch, there is always a loud click on return to receive. The click can be largely eliminated using the NB at a low setting but it shouldn't be there in the first place and I do not want to leave the NB switched on all the time because of potential intermod problems.

The SPE does not make any such clicks when I use it on CW with my TS990. Nor are there any clicks when I use the 6600M with my KPA500 amplifier. So there is something incompatible between the 6600M and the SPE. I am using the latest software version 2.3.9.

I have tried the various delay settings in the 6600M but those make absolutely no difference. I have also tried an extra transistor "keying buffer" between the 6600M output switch (TX1 etc) and the SPE to separate the two but again that makes absolutely no difference.

I cannot believe that I am the only one who is experiencing this problem and any feedback, advice or suggestions as to how to eliminate the click would be much appreciated. It is far too loud and unpleasant to simply try and live with it.
