The CAT commands are Kenwood CAT based. Therefore the Error Codes are as follows:
■ Error Messages
In addition to the Answer command, the transceiver
can send the error messages listed below
Error
Message Reason for Error?;
•Command syntax was incorrect.
•Command was not executed due to
the current status of the transceiver
(even though the command syntax
was correct).
Note: Occasionally, this message may not
appear due to microprocessor transients in
the transceiver.
E;
A communication error occurred, such
as an overrun or framing error during a
serial data transmission.
O; Receive data was sent but processing
was not completed.
The ZZFB; command returns the frequency for VFO B in the format listed in the Flex Cat Manual. If you have 1 Panadapter and 1 Slice but do not have VFO B Active and selected it would explain why you received the Error indication.

Thank you Wayne, probably i missed original Kenwood explanation :
•Command was not executed due tothe current status of the transceiver
(even though the command syntax
was correct).
What is right in my case.0 -
The "?" means the command was not understood or it is not applicable for the slice it was sent to.
All VFO "B" commands will return a "?" unless the radio has been put into SPLIT mode by issuing the ZZSW1: command. When in split mode, the radio automatically create the VFO B slice (you cannot create it manually). And all VFO B CAT commands sent to the VFO A (parent) slice will respond appropriately.
Programs that support split only have one CAT port, so both VFO A and VFO B CAT commands are sent to one and only one CAT port.
To take the radio out of split, issue the ZZSW0; command.2 -
