Flex 6600M USB output cable to drive a Top Ten Band decoder

Member
I need a cable to connect the USB output of my 6600M to a Top Ten band decoder (to run auto-band pass filters). I think it is a FTDI C232HM (MPSSE) or similiar. It should provide TTL 4 wire band data (BCD band data control) similiar to the K3 band data from its aux output.
Any sources or ideas appreciated. Jim - W5AP

Jim,
I'm unfamiliar with your Top Ten Band Decoder but yes the cable you describe will output BCD data directly from the Flex. I'm unclear how much current your decoder requires but if it works with a K3 it should work fine here. I've used lots of these cables with the Flex and they work great. Look in the Flex USB Guide for details.

You need a USB to parallel FTDI cable.

See the interface guide:

Pages 6-7 are relevant.
You can also switch directly using BIT cables. Genuine FTDI relay boards are available for this purpose, such as Denkovi and Sainsmart.1 -
The band decoder is called "Band Aide" and uses Yaesu BCD.

However if he is using the 6 way relay box, he can just set it up as a bit cable and use a sainsmart or denkovi relay. Much simpler.

Denkovi:

Configure as Bit cable and use the relays to ground the pins on the 6 way relay box:
