**** Newbie FT8 w/Maestro @ Office on SmartLink Question.

I am really enjoying V2.0 w/SmartLink with a Maestro on my office desk (I'm the boss, so no evil looks). I participate in a 6 meter 300 mile radius casual net in the mornings and conversation about FT8 trans-Atlantic, multi-hop, Es openings make me want to try FT8 from the office.
I assume I need to run DAX to connect to the K1JT windows program. Since SmartLink doesn't need bridge-mode VPN to connect to the radio any longer, I plan to retire my SoftEther VPN box on my home LAN in favor of a L2TP-over-IPSec VPN capability built in to my Draytek firewall/router.
My question is: Will DAX work over non-bridge-mode VPNs and make me happy?
Extra info: I have fiber-to-the-house internet w/250mb upload and 650mb download speeds available.

DAX is not supported over a SmartLink connection in SmartSDR v2.0.17. We are evaluating options for possibly including this in a future release.1

Thanks Tim. Your answer made me rethink what I was asking and now I realize I should have thought about it for a few more minutes before posting ;~}

Just use a program like Team Viewer for remote FT8
FT8 running on your Home Station but accessing it via
Team Viewer Free Version

I don't like turn on the PC in my home. Just switch on Flex remotely and want to connect whenever I want to...0 -
So, just like prior to SmartLink, can you use the older VPN solutions to provide access for both Maestro and DAX, looking just like you are on your home network with the radio? I am new at this also, and wondering what remote solution exists for both Maestro and Digital Modes?

I find the Mastro/SMartSDR same-broadcast-domain (bridge mode VPN) radio IP discovery requirement to be a frustrating stumbling block to most of my remote networking scenarios. Thank goodness Marcus' SmartSDR for IOS App doesn't have this restriction! -Mark KC3DRE
