Smart link to laptop

I am attempting to connect to my laptop with SmartLink. Everything checks out, but I don't have any way to key the laptop to register it. (CW, PTT. etc.) What am I missing?

You only need to register the RADIO hardware one time. That requires some sort of PTT. Any client, including your laptop, does not need to be registered.'

To elaborate what Mac has stated, you need to provide the PTT from the actual radio (front mic, rear PTT jack, accy PTT jack, or CW key). This ensures that you are in control of the radio when you register it on your SmartLink account and helps prevent remote users from hijacking your radio and registering it to another account.

Once you have created a SmartLink account, logged in and registered your radio with the logged in account (that is when you have to key the radio), if you want to use a different PC or client, all you have to do is log in and the SmartLink enabled radio shows up in the chooser. Select it and it should connect.

Yep, very simple. I got on our towns wifi and made a CW contact. Went to where I had a very low wifi signal made two more contacts. Fantastic job Flex. If you're having trouble, you may be over thinking things.1

Dave, I watched your very good video before I did anything and everything worked. It wasn't clear to me that I didn't have to register my laptop as well.
