Praise for SmartSDR for iOS - Quiet operations in a different style

As I've been home recuperating from a medical adventure, I've made a few QSOs, but most important are a handful using SmartSDR for iOS where I was able to show my hobby to a series of teenagers. The teens came with their parents visiting. Each was given a SmartSDR for iOS introduction to how we were controlling my radio and we made contacts. Was awesome to see their minds work out that we were talking to France or Alabama or wherever. Pretty certain the bravest one who spoke with Steve W4GOK will be back for more on the air experiences and think we have a convert there. Being in my case iPad based the youngsters were so familiar with the hardware they saw. Simple stuff making great examples, and SmartSDR has made this recuperation a joy to experience and share the hobby. 73 Steve K9ZW

I've found that young people tend to really like the computer/pad screen when having Ham radio explained to them, and to see what we do. I think people are largely visually oriented these days, and seeing a panadpter and signals and the tuning process ends up getting a positive reaction much more often than sitting and twisting a dial on a legacy radio.

While reading, I could imagine the glowing eyes of these youngsters. Fantastic!
All the best for your recuperation.

Thank you all for the kind words. Much appreciated!
It is a real joy to see the "wirelessness" of the contact make an impression on youngsters!
Just was called that the one YL I was sure really took it all in would like some books to study! I usually keep a couple sets of starter books around for just such an occasion.
The other kids will perhaps one or two come around.
all best and again thank you & 73,
