6400 attenuator add on M pannel

Will the Attenuator in the Flex-6400 be more like the 6500 or the 6300, also if I order the
6400 can I add the front pannel ( M ) later on.

As I understand it, if you get a non-M version, the only way to have a display like the M models will be by purchasing a Maestro. It won't attach directly to the radios front end. But, sit separately from the radio and be connected by ethernet cable (direct to the port on the radio) or by WiFi to your home network. There is no provision for attaching a display to the non-M models otherwise.

Didn't the 6300 add 20 db of attenuation on the lower bands and act as a pre-amp on the higher bands?0

Early 6300s added variable attenuation depending on the frequency below 40m. That was removed to improve low band RX performance when used with negative gain receiving antennas0
