I've been using the Maestro extensively and I find the Profiles do not play nice if you have more than one slice selected. Here's my scenario. Slice A: Freq. = 7.251000 TX flag = Active BW = 2.4K Mode = LSB DAX for TX = Off DAX for slice = OFF Slice B: Freq. = 14.076000 TX flag = OFF BW = 3.0K Mode = DIGU DAX for TX = ON DAX for Slice = ON Both of the slices have their own panadapter. When I switch from Slice A to Slice B, the DAX TX becomes an OFF state because SmartSDR does not read the Profile for SliceB frequency. The same problem exist when you try to load a profile for SliceB on the Maestro, it reverts back to a single slice thus loosing the original sliceA that was there before you chose to add SliceB. Hope this is all making sense. That has been my #1 frustration with SmartSDR, otherwise I love everything that this radio can do.

There are several different kind of Profiles in SmartSDR and they each serve a different purpose.
Global Profiles are used to store the current Panadapter and Slice configuration (which band they are on, what frequencies they are tuned to, which DSP functions are turned on, what RX filters are selected, etc).
TX Profiles setup the power output, the TX1/TX2/TX3 output lines (for controlling amplifiers or other hardware equipment) and timing related to those.
The Mic Profiles are used to help define the voice settings like the Mic Gain, Compressor settings, VOX levels, etc.
With those descriptions out of the way, back to your question. We would need to know which of these Profiles you are using so that we can understand your expectations about what should happen and what you are actually observing.
Also, help us understand what you mean when you say "switch from Slice A to Slice B."
We're here to help, we just need some additional information to help us home in on what you are experiencing. We look forward to hearing back from you.1 -
Eric, how should Bob setup his radio up to do what he's trying to do? Vs. how is he doing it....0
-
I don't know how to answer this question without understanding what it is that he is trying to do.0
-
Oh, ok,He wants to go from slice A to B and back to A without loosing the setup he describes for each slice.0

What do you mean by "go from?" You can have 2 Slices open (A and at the same time. It isn't clear whether you mean you want to close A and open B or whether you mean to transition some functionality from A to B. An example might be to make the B Slice the Transmit Slice, you simply press the TX button on the B Slice GUI.1

I see what you mean. I was thinking he was saying he was pressing TX for slice A and then B and expecting the setup to follow, which is what happens when I do that on my rig.0

Eric, I'm late in responding because of a family emergency. I'm not good at writing, I've got a video that you can watch.

Bob,
Sorry to hear about the family emergency. I hope everything worked out OK there.
On the profiles, I think I understand what you are saying. You are adding a second Panadapter with another Slice. But that goes away when you load a Global Profile.
The Global Profiles are setup as a save and restore mechanism for all of your Slices and Panadapters. As a result, it isn't going to fit nicely for what you are trying to do (load a profile while leaving another Panadapter present). I do understand what you are saying though and we will certainly consider this as we continue to improve the software going forward.
For now, I think the best advice that I can give for this situation would be to setup the Global Profiles the way you want things setup for each mode. If you need to have an additional Slice and don't want to lose it, you may want to just change the settings on the existing Slice manually instead of using the Global Profile load.
Thanks for helping us to understand what you were seeing.0
