Band/Memory selection via Function/Knob

I brought this up before but can't find the post. Would really like to see more attention to memory recall and band selection. Old knob radios use a knob to select stored memory. One button band change. Currently with Maestro, for recalling stored memory, you have to touch the screen 5 times: Menu, Memory, select memory, Load, Exit. Then do it all over again every time you want to switch to another stored memory. To change band, you must touch the screen 3 times. Sorry but this is so clumsy, it can be better.
My suggestion is to create a new function BAND/MEMORY. Assign a function key for example F3 to this function.
Hit F3, a small BAND/MEMORY indicator is displayed on screen, possibly between MENU and RF Power indicator. A box pops up showing the stored memory. This changes the use of the TX Menu knob. PWR becomes band select, MIC-SPEED becomes memory select. Pushing the TX Menu knob selects the memory or band, or can make the change after a user settable delay, say 3 seconds. Other bands/memories can be selected or exit by hitting F3.

I realize many people have many feature requests for SmartSDR but I find it hard to believe this would not be a popular request or at least on the to do list. I jump around a lot so if I want to go to another band, mode, and frequency it should be faster than changing bands, modes and adjust the VFO manually. If I wanted to take a look at say 3 frequencies stored, it will take 15 touch screens to achieve. Got spoiled using Icom 746pro & 7600, twist a knob changes stored memory. TS-2000 and even FT-1000MP same thing.

I changed it for you.0

I would like that also a well on the screen, in the event the Controller locks up.0

Hi. I am a new user of the Flex 6500, moving "up?" from a FT-2000D (and previously a FT-1000D).
I would like to see a simpler means for changing bands/mode. I guess i am spoiled by the FT-series...they had 'band stacking' with 3 memories per band. You could have CW, SSB and RTTY stacked if you wanted and access just by pressing the band you want button 1,2,or 3 times, and the desired frequency, and mode would be loaded.
It might be possible to do this using the 'profile feature', but it doesn't appear so from the manuals.

I agree with this. I am hoping in version 2.0 they make band changing and global profiles 1 click accessible. For me adding panels to the right would be nice. I would rather have a panel up for bands and global profiles (which I used for band change) than the EQ. However I think the P/CW and Phone panel could be cleaned up and shrunk. Instead of using band stacking I create a global profile with all three "band stacked" frequencies open as slices.
Doesn't seem like many users are using the global profiles as band change like I am??

I already use FRstack from my desktop but can't from my Maestro hence why people want something like that built-in to SmartSDR so to get Band/Memory control from Maestro knob is desirable. Currently it requires five depressions on the touch panel each time you want to change memory. Please don't get me wrong I love the Maestro but not to have knob or button access to something as basic as memory and band selection in the initial or subsequent software releases is disappointing and in my opinion should be re-prioritized.
