Downward Expander While Remote

I've embraced the "Radio Server" concept which comes with the ownership of a Flex 6000 radio. My 6300 sits happily down in my lonely, dark shack as I seldom operate from that position. I find that I can very effectively operate from anywhere in or around my home with my laptop or Maestro without loosing much capability. The exception that I miss is the Downward Expander.
I'm sure there is a good reason why this function is not available when remote, but I don't understand the reasoning or challenges. As remote operations become more common place, background noise picked up by our microphones becomes more of an issue. This function mitigates much of the problem. This would be a boon to remote ops.
Can someone elicit why this function is only available for physical microphone connections to the radio?

There was a post about it recently Jay. It had to do with the programing of the DEXP (Noise Gate) in the DSP chip inside the Flex radio which had to be translated into software for it to function in the Maestro or REMOTE for that matter.
I wholeheartedly agree with you, missing that functionality and TNF on the Maestro is a minus until it gets programmed into the software. I use those functionalities constantly.2 -
If you are using a computer for remote operation, you might try adding a third party program called Romac. It has downward expansion, compression, 10 band equalizing, and gain control. You will find its many features are more than you could ever want for audio adjustment to your Flex radio.

DEXP is a a software function that is currently implemented in the audio codec of the radio which means that it is not *inline* with remote audio (Maestro in this case) or DAX audio. In order to make DEXP work in Maestro we need to move it from the audio codec into the ARM/DSP signal chains. it needs to be done carefully to get the same performance/characteristics which is the reason it was moved out of 1.7.2

My expectation is that it will one day be added. I could really use it when remote from my office, laptop or iPad/iPhone aps. But as Howard said, it will take some time to do it correctly. I would hate to see its performance suffer in the translation process. I find it very effective and easy to adjust in the current implementation in SSDR.

Thanks Howard. I knew there was a real reason why this has not so far risen to the top of the list. I figured that it had to be an audio chain physicality difference (analog hardware input sources on the box versus streaming audio) which complicates developing this function for remote ops.0

I'll check that out in while waiting for the built in solution from FRS.
