Thought software was removed for download

Samuel, I think the file has been removed until they (FRS) figures out where the problem is. The name of the file will show up on the Maestro, however.0

Ok thank you I'm not going to try to download it .0
-
What file did FRS remove from the downloads?

Samuel, you have a ton of reading to do. hi hi0
-
Why cause I may have missed a post , how about not dealing with bogus software0
-
I believe it's the installer.0

Samuel, go here and download SmartSDR 1.8 https://www.flexradio.com/downloads/smartsdr_v1-8-3_installer-exe/ Install 1.8 on your computer and then update the radio. Then you can use 1.8 that is on your Maestro.

Hi Jeff that would be a great way to break my Maestro , have they released new software ? All I did was ask a simple question , and I get answers like these . I never claimed to be perfect , but I don't deserve smart **** replies . Flex says not to download it , I thought I read it was removed for download , yet it appeared on my Maestro what is the big deal , I just wanted an answer not sarcasm .1

Samuel, stay calm - please.
The information you received is correct but may require an extended explanation.
First: A release appears in three places, being:
- On the radio server (your 6300 hardware) as firmware. This puts on the server (radio) side programming that handles the networking protocol and requests.
- On one or more radio clients (your computer if you use one) that communicate with your 6300. This is the SSDR software client and GUI which must be in the same release family, e.g. 1.7.**** or 1.8.****
- On the Maestro which is also a radio client but the platform is best described as a tablet. It also must in the same release family as the 6300
Second: The problem with 1.8 is only the Maestro installer. Your note did not say which version is on your Maestro. If 1.7.**** the request is "Do not attempt to install 1.8" and to back that up FRS has removed the 1.8 software from Maestro access.
If 1.8 is already installed on your Maestro the request is "Do not remove 1.8" as it is the installation process that has bricked some Maestro devices.
Third: Jeff's note was based on the above and breaks down to:
If your Maestro is ALREADY ON 1.8 then here is where you can get the installer to bring the 6300 and Smart SDR up to 1.8 - So you don't have to remove 1.8 from the Maestro to use it.
If your Maestro is NOT ON 1.8 then select the appropriate version of 1.7 to bring Maestro, SSDR and 6300 all to the 1.7 version.
Hope this helps

Confusion exists because v.1.8.3 works just fine in the SSDR for Windows version, but the process of installing it to the Maestro has bricked a small number of them. (Which, obviously, is a disaster if you are one of those affected). But many Maestros updated to 1.8.3 with no problems.
FRS took the Maestro 1.8.3 installer offline to prevent further problems, but it still shows up on the list in the Maestro as a placeholder. If you click on it, it will not load.
V.1.8.3 is still available in the Windows version of SSDR because it still installs correctly.
But, as Stan said, some folks have 1.7 on Maestro, and installed v.1.8.3 on their SSDR for Windows, which now makes the firmware in the rig incompatible with their Maestro. So they need to downgrade their SSDR for Windows (and the rig will follow suit) so that they will all work together. But if they already successfully installed v.1.8.3 to their maestro, the need to keep it and upgrade their Windows version of SSDR to the same level. They already made it safely through the gauntlet, and running back through the gauntlet the other direction would be pointless, as well as dangerous.
So yes, in your case....sit tight with v.1.7 until the new version fix is released and all will be well.

Yes, it is confusing. My 6500 was running fine with 1.8.3, but Maestro would not install. As Ken pointed out, I had to back up to 1.7 on the 6500. It and the Maestro play together nicely. (That for what it is worth.)
