MAESTRO WINKEYER

Anyone using internal Maestro Winkeyer with N1MM or Dxlab Winwarbler running on computer?
I'm not sure if this is doable, I'm hoping I don't need to use external Winkeyer.
I intend to use Flex, Maestro and logging / contest computer hard wired to router.

Yes, the software WinKeyer works great with N1M and DXLab WinWarbler. I use them both all the time.0

Nothing to buy, as you have it built in. You turn it on (or create it) in CAT. At that point you assign a CAT/COM port to Winkey. Next you use that same com port in N1MM or DXLab.
I just tested it last night using ACLOG during the 6M opening.

Perhaps, I didn't phrase my request correctly. I don't want to get into a debate, but I have NEVER been able to get the software Winkeyer to function way I think it should.
My question is about internal Maestro Winkeyer, my understanding is this is a hardware not software Winkeyer.
What I'm I missing in my statement, so I may get a answer about INTERNAL WINKEYER.

I would have to dig into the notes from a while ago while we were testing, but to the best of my knowledge it is a software keyer doing winkeyer emulation, but that is of course on SSDR.
If I understand your question, that is what is actually in the Maestro? I am pretty sure it is again a software emulation, but I am guessing only because a hardware one was never mentioned.
Whether it is hardware or software, does this make a difference?

p.s. You mentioned you never got it to work. Can you explain further?0 -
That's NOT what I was told when I asked question some weeks ago.
Wish I could located that reply, it's somewhere in database.

Hi Lewis... As I mentioned, I was only surmising. Any chance you might be able to answer my other 2 questions?

Mike, I and others have had our say about timing issues with respect to software version. I still have and use my external Winkeyer as when I press a function key, I want and expect cw to be sent, that has not all ways been case with software Winkeyer, like I said I didn't want to start a debate.0

I asked the same question last week Lewis and the consensus seemed to be that there was no external interface available to connect the Maestro Winkeyer to N1MM+ etc. It is also my understanding that it is a 'proper' hardware Winkeyer and not software emulation.0

Phil,
I believe that you are correct in your assesment of the Maestro internal K1EL Winkey function. Its hardware not currelty accessable to external programs.

The Maestro wikeyer is NOT accessible to software programs at this time from both a hardware or virtual port standpoint. There is a standing request to have this feature added. Secondly there ARE well documented timing issues in the current production release of SSDR/CAT wikey emulator. They are currently being worked on. I have a hardware winkeyer in use as well while this stuff is fixed.
Hang in there gang.. the team is well aware and working on fixing these issues. Even Gerald has chimed in stating this stuff is getting fixed..

Chris,
I am looking at the possibility of a move in residence that will require me to control a remoted flex SS rig via the internet due to the strictest of HOAs. I have already been offered the opportunity to join a local remote rig.com station and will probably take up the offer but that remote station can be busy at times.
So I am starting to seriously consider remoting my Flex. It appears, for now the best option to control this remoted flex SS rig over the internet ( when v2.0 hits the streets) will be locally with a maestro if I want the ability to send cw manually with a key (paddle) correct ?
I could also control the remoted flex via SSDR running on my local pc , however, even with hardware winkeyer connected to that pc ( for the ability to send cw manually or the use of a winkeyer compatible logger) there is still the issue of sending the winkeyer output over the interwebs into the remoted flex which would be a whole different animal.
Since maestro internal winkeyer cw out can already be sent to a Flex SS rig via a hardwired ethernet connection, then it seems logical to me that once v2.0 gets here it will simply be a matter of getting the local maestro cw out to the remoted flex's ethernet in correct ?
In other words, I should plan on controlling my remoted flex with a maestro if I want the ability to send cw manually or if I want the soon to be ability to run a third party logger on my local pc.0 -
hmm.. I think I get what you are saying here.. this is doable now and for now vpn it the stop gap solution. If you connect your.. lets say laptop with SSDR CAT/WK emulator at your remote site, along with a Maestro with paddles this will work now. I have done it.
So your laptop(no ssdr just cat app running with appropriate virtual ports) is vpn'd into the shack with your 6000 series rig located there, and using a Raspberry pi (well documented by K6OZY) you can connect your maestro.
for all practical purposes the flex SS, LAPTOP (running a logger to key automated cw) and Maestro (with paddles attached for manual cw) are essentially on the same network and this will work and does work relatively well.0 -
Yes, that part is understood so that would be a valid solution when v2.0 gets here sans the vpn method or just learn the vpn method. I guess what I was trying to really ask was have you heard of a future ability to do all of this with just SSDR on a local pc , the winkeyer emulation and interfacing a paddle somehow with that winkeyer emulation ? Sorry for not being more direct.0
