SmartSDR for Maestro 1.7.14 Stablility Over Time
Over an extended period of time (I've started running a Maestro in the office during the work day) I will occasionally lose the waterfall.
Typically after 4 to 6 hours running. Area is black & blank where it would have been.
Of course today when I wanted to get a picture it is running just fine after five hours up.
This may well be specific to a network issue on my system and have asked son Winston KC9FVR to review logs off the network devices for correlations.
Will take a photo next instance, and of course regardless of the drop of the graphics on a Maestro reboot all is well.

Is this wired or wireless? If wireless 2.4 or 5Ghz.
I can recreate your problem by making the network connection go away for some reason. Could there be something that is causing your network to drop out?
In my tests over the weekend on a newly acquired 2.4ghz router, I have been up for 18 hours and only dropped 20 out of 8 million packets.
The TP-Link AC1750 Archer C7 is the wireless AP I have been testing with great success and it is only $90 on amazon.

Hi Mike
Have observed it over wireless, and that is why we're going through the logs.
More as we watch and study.
Have spot another unexpected change:
In the seven hours up I have had the VFO-A enable transmit three times (I disable transmit when I am elsewhere in the office).

Mike,
You seem to be a wealth of knowledge/experience on this topic. I found it very interesting to read that the literature on this item specifically states that it was designed for high bandwidth applications i.e. video streaming and file sharing. If I recall correctly, you already stated that any successful wireless router candidates for maestro would need this capability. Thanks for mentioning this specific model #.
Just curious, is your local 2.4g environment crowded as well and this device also happens to deal with that kind of environment better than most or is 2.4g quiet at your qth ?0 -
Hi Mike
I did commercial Wifi for a living about 6 years ago. This is the reason I was using Commercial Meru equipment at my cottage. Just because I could. However the commercial stuff is not ham friendly all the time.
For the 2.4ghz testing, it was an RF quiet environment. It is the home of my remote base. I have an apartment in Montreal that is the exact opposite. I can see at least 25 2.4Ghz stations. It doesn't work so well there, however 5Ghz is rock solid.

For issues like this, if using wifi, switch to a wired Ethernet connection to see if the problem behavior changes. if it is more stable when running on a wired connection than a wifi connection, then focus your troubleshooting on the wifi router and its configuration.0
