US Armed Forces Day (14 May) and Question about "split mode" operation

The annual Armed Forces Crossband is May 14th:

The 4o meter band presents a perplexing problem. They will be using USB whereas we use LSB. Assuming they listen in USB, it seems a simple XIT won't work but one would have to use two slices. Is that correct? The Maestro should be able to handle this also, correct?
I wonder if the Mil radios are as flexible as the Flex (able to operate this split mode L/U-SB)?
I participated years back and had a blast doing it but can't recall if I worked 4o meters or not.

The use of LSB on 40m is a "convention" that is a consequence of early receiver designs not a regulation. No cross mode is required. So click the USB button and confuse the casual listener.0

Two slices will work perfectly. You can use one or two panadapters, whatever you prefer.0
