My new Maestro

Unpacking my new Maestro and looking at the Protective film on the screen, Got me wondering if anyone knows if it would be beneficial to find some protective screen saver for the Maestro? I'm guessing something that size could be found and cut down to fit? Would it work ? Is it needed? Just curious... Thanks

    Corey,

The purpose of screen protectors are to keep the screen from shattering if you drop it or drop something heavy on it.

In this situation, I think neither are very likely. Dropping something on it is out because the screen is most vertical so there isn't much exposed surface. Damage due to dropping is likely for the whole Maestro and I think the screen damage would be the least of your problems.

In other words, you can do it if you want to, it will not hurt anything (except your wallet maybe) but it might make the touch screen a little less responsive (not very likely) and will probably not save you from many damaging situations.

Here are some suggestions for Maestro screen care.

1,) Only use a microfiber cloth
Unlike paper-based towels, microfiber cloths gently clean the Maestro’s sensitive glass screens without running the risk of scratching them. A microfiber cloth attracts any oils or dust present on a smartphone’s screen and completely removes them, as opposed to just wiping them around.

    2.) Avoid alcohol-based cleaners
never resort to using products like Windex to clean your Maestro screen. Cleaners such as these have a tendency to damage the protective coating.

3.) Avoid using paper-based cleaning wipes
Never wipe or clean your Maestro screen with paper towels, facial tissues, or coarse cloths, as these have a high risk of scratching the surface

Here is a cleaning trick.  If you do not have a microfiber cloth, you can use Scotch brand tape to clean your screen.  It works wonders at lifting dust and fingerprints from the Maestro’s surface. Just stick the tape to the surface of the screen and peel it off to remove any unwanted dirt and grime.

Screen protectors also protect from scratches on touch screens, which this is. I think its a valid question and there are plenty of quality protectors. unless the screen is using toughened glass in which case its probably a low likelyhood of scratches. If its plastic than with heavy use they generally degrade some.
