Transverter Hook-up question

Member ✭✭
This is a very simple question (I hope!).
I want to hook a 2m transverter up to my Flex 6500.
My transverter has two sockets (although I believe that it can be reconfigured to use a single socket).
How should I hook it up? I believe that the best thing is to use the XVTR and "RX ANT IN" sockets. Is this correct?
Is there a better / more correct way?
Thanks in Advance!

That is correct, David. It is exactly how I use my 6500 and my Kuhne transverter. 6500 Tvtr socket for the TXIF and Rx Ant In for the RXIF. In fact, my GPSDO arrived yesterday, so I now feed a 10mhz reference to my transverter too...happy days! Paul M0CVX2

Cheers Paul! Just needed to check! Bravo Zulu!!0

Yes, that eliminates the need for the internal relay in the transverter, and associated potential losses. It is just cleaner......unless you need the RXA port for a receive antenna on the low bands.1

Ken, have you noticed a performance difference between just XVTR and with both connections? Curious about how much difference it makes.0

I was speaking from a theoretical position. I did have a Microwave Modules 2 meter transverter a number of years ago. It seemed that there was a bit more relay delay issue, and relay noise, when using a single input/output. I never measured other performance. But much of the reading have done in the past recommend using split IF connections if available. I don't currently have a high performance transverter installed at the station...only a cheap one I have been playing with occasionally.1

Thank you Ron. Very interesting articles - especially your one about FDX. Although I do not have the space to install antennas, rotator etc. here, I am very interested in the whole AMSAT thing - my pal Rupert G0TKZ got me interested initially and listening to the ISS talking to schools on amateur radio is big news here right now.
