Netgear WNCE2001 WiFi adapter and SmartSDR remote operation

In June 2014 with a Flex-6300 and SmartSDR 1.2.1, I successfully used a Netgear WNCE2001 WiFi adapter to connect the 6300 to a remote computer via WiFi.

I just tried this again with a Flex-6500 and SmartSDR 1.6.17. Now the remote computer can see the 6500 in the SSDR Chooser but it will not connect. Ditto with the K6TU Remote iPad app.

If the 6500 is connected to the WiFi Gateway via Ethernet cable, I get connectivity to SSDR and K6TU Remote..

The Netgear WNCE2001 works correctly when plugged into a computer's Ethernet port to connect it to a WiFi network.

Another difference between 2014 and now is that in 2014, the WiFi/Router was from ATT/U-verse and now it is from Time Warner.

Is there something that Flex has changed from 2014/6300 and now/6500?
