CW SYNC OPTION

Member ✭✭
edited January 2019 in New Ideas
I operate VHF a lot and sometimes a station will switch from SSB to CW without a major freq change. I suggest an option where going to CW mode shifts frequency by 600 Hz so station is still in passband without touching tuning of radio. Icom radios do this.

The Kenwood TS-480 will center the CW station at your sidetone audio frequency if it hears a CW signal on 300Hz either side of it. Seems like it's been done before and ought to be pretty east in software. :)

Yes, not original idea at all. Icom radios do this (can switch feature on or off in a menu). Exact offset should be equal to sidetone freq.

Agreed my pro 3 did it and very useful on 6m and transverting onto 4m. As i plan a further upgrade to a 6700 in the spring it would be needed for 2m work too as i often switch modes to cw to finish a fading dx or contest qso.

The real operating upside would be that you could narrow the CW filter further and you wouldn't have to hunt around to keep it in the center of the passband. The signal would stay centered in the filter as you narrowed it.

This too is in our feature enhancement database.  It is the auto zero beat feature
