Anyone else having trouble retaining the Calibration Offset Value?
Anyone else having trouble retaining the Calibration Offset Value on a Flex 6500 (No GPS) with SSDR 1.6.17. My offset value is -1189 @ 15 MHz. Reverts to 0 value after I do a radio shutdown and restart. I did a Factory Reset. Value still not retained. The calibration routine works ok, the value is not saved. Value was retained with SSDR 1.5.1. What am I missing?

Yes, I just did the same thing and noticed zero offset when I turned the radio off and on again.
My offset was -318 Hz. at 10 MHz. and returned to zero.

Are all the 6500's like that or just a few with the problem??0

I can only speak for mine.

Mine does not save after power-off - its a 6500 - hope Tim comments soon . . or time to open a help deck ticket
no joy . . .

And of course it will be addressed in the next update..0

How can they test this software for the amount of time they did and have problems like this?? Nobody noticed it wasn't retaining calibration??0

By power cycle I assume it's stop SmartSDR then push the power button to turn the radio off then push the power button to turn it on. If that's the case my 6500 kept it's calibration.
At 15 MHz it's -625 and according to Fldigi it's within a couple of cycles. (No GPS)

Note: I power cycled as above and disconnected the DC input 6500 kept it's calibration.
I have done a factory reset 6500 kept it's calibration.
So I guess to answer Steve no it's not all 6500
@ Steve I did test calibration and because of this thread I tested it again.

Just a dumb guess, but maybe the radio only writes the calibration value to storage during Reboot/Power down. It might also only read it from the ROM storage during Power up/Calibration. With 1.6.14 perhaps the only way to store the value is to, set the value then Power Off/Power On cycle the radio.
Just a dumb guess, because I have the GPSDO,
so I don't have any offset/correction to worry about.
Also, has anyone tried Saving the Global Profile immediately after filling in the offset, that might write the value to the radio without requiring a power cycle. The Global profile is stored in the radio.

Your radio believes it has a GPSDO installed which is why the offset is reverting back to 0.
To fix, do the following:
Start SmartSDR and connect to your radio.
From the Settings menu, select the Radio Setup->GPS tab.
Click on the Uninstall button.
Close SmartSDR
Power cycle the radio
Start SmartSDR and connect to your radio.
From the Settings menu, select the Radio Setup->Receive tab
Run a frequency calibration
Close SmartSDR
Power cycle the radio
Start SmartSDR and connect to your radio.
From the Settings menu, select the Radio Setup->Receive tab
You should see the previous offset value now.0 -
Tim just sent me these instructions 5 min. after I sent a helpdesk ticket.
Followed the procedure and all is well.
Thanks Tim !!!
Lots of Joy now . . . . .

From Tim's instructions it looks like they didn't miss it, all is good. Just a thing of understanding how things should work.0

Thanks Tim!
This resolved the calibration offset save problem on my Flex-6500 also

Out of curiosity, was the radio calibrated once the calibration procedure was initiated even though it showed "0" offset or did it lose its calibration after the power recycle?

Jim
Yes My Flex-6500 would calibrate to less than 1 hz, Checked with fldigi frequency analysis method. Held calibration very well over months.

No, it was not on frequency after the power cycle. If the offset was showing "0" and the XO needed a different offset, the radio would be off frequency.0
-
Well that was a simple fix. Thanks Dr. Tim0
