FlexRadio Systems announces the immediate availability of SmartSDR v1.6.17 for the FLEX-6000 Signature Series SDRs.
It highly recommended that you review the Important Release Details section in the Release Notes before upgrading. Due to the significant and extensive changes to the code that were made for SmartSDR v1.6, there are several new “best practices” recommendations that will facilitate a smooth transition to SmartSDR v1.6.
Improved operating workflow capabilities by expanding the contesting capabilities in the FLEX-6000 is the primary focus of the SmartSDR v1.6 release. We looked at how contesters operate, investigated their common concerns and developed solutions to address those requirements. Part of our rationale for working to optimize the radio for contesting is the belief that the radio will improve greatly for all types of operators as we work on contesting -- since contesters are some of the most demanding operators for both performance and workflow capabilities, what we accomplish for contesters will benefit others as well. In addition to new and updated features, SmartSDR v1.6 also provides bug fixes and correction to provide a more consistent operating experience. Below are a few of the key improvements in SmartSDR v1.6.17. A detailed explanation of theses changes can be found in the SmartSDR v1.6.17 Release Notes.
Profiles: The profiles feature has been significantly enhanced to work more seamlessly with how you operate. For additional information of the profile changes for SmartSDR v1.6.17, please refer to the SmartSDR Profiles How To Guide for detailed information on how to use the new Profiles feature.
SmartSDR CAT: In order to make the necessary improvements for improved contest integration, SmartSDR CAT was completely rewritten to improve performance and to add new capabilities. SmartSDR CAT has been enhanced to work with all available slice receivers, in addition to supporting ports for emulating a Winkeyer, OTRSP support, CAT over TCP/IP and the ability to use hardware and USB serial ports with the CAT protocol to interface with hardware devices.
DAX: In an effort to better support SOnR and SOnV digital mode contesting and voice Keyer integration support, several significant changes have been made to DAX. There is a single transmit port for all DAX channels, simplifying digital mode operations and reducing the number of DAX audio devices installed on your PC. A separate live mic output stream has been added that can be used in conjunction with popular logging programs to capture mic audio for storing voicekeyer messages.
