Since the response to releasing the update SmartSDR CAT manual was so positive, we are providing early access to the SmartSDR Software Users Guide too.  The DAX section might be of interest as this is one of the other areas where we have done a lot of software refactoring.  Enjoy.

    Here’s a summary of new and significantly changed features in SmartSDR 1.6 and where to find them in the documentation:

    * Transmit profiles separated into Transmit and MIC profiles: SmartSDR User Guide sections 14 and 15. Section 14 has been mostly re-written.  SmartSDR Profiles “How To” Guide (a new document, now available here)

    * Single DAX TX channel: SmartSDR User Guide section 26

    * DAX MIC audio channel: SmartSDR User Guide section 27

    * DAX Control Panel moved from the System Tray to the Taskbar: SmartSDR User Guide section 26

    * WNB and NB controls re-organized in Slice Flags: SmartSDR User Guide sections 11.3 and 11.4

    * All new CAT Application and Control Panel: SmartSDR CAT User Guide, now available here – The CAT application and Control Panel are new software.  This document has been largely re-written.  Older versions do not apply to SmartSDR version 1.6 software.

    Seriously, I hope the early release of documentation can be done in the future too. At least it will shut us up whilst we read it. Okay, not too seriously ;-).

    The real trick is to get us to read the manuals ---- while waiting on the software

    Somebody told me, listen to this **** story, that those funny black marks that some people put on paper, are used to convey information! I have told that story so many times but I still **** myself laughing each time I tell it. And, wait for it, some people actually believe that guff. Next thing you know, they will be telling us that there is no such thing as phlogiston. I really must stop, I'm wetting myself.

    I believe it is the stuff some people use to, wait for it, wipe the lower end of their gastrointestinal tract every few days or so. Some do it every day so I have been told. Just why they do that I cannot fathom.

    Tim, could you clarify please:

    "16.4 PTT OVERRIDE WHEN OPERATING LAN REMOTE
    When operating in a non DIGx mode, using a hardware PTT such as the RCA PTT input on the back panel or the front panel microphone PTT will override the Remote PTT. This feature is used to allow the user to override the Remote input with a PTT switch connected directly to the radio."

    does it mean  Mic and DAX can be activated(used) simutaniously using HW PTT ?

    It is due to be released (early) this week but FRS have released various manuals/howtos so people can get an idea of what has changed.

    Page 17 shows an image of the installation path for v1.4.0. A legacy image no doubt, and a small error of continuity in an otherwise well written document. Don't hate! It proves people are reading it.

    I spotted that but I think it is acceptable if the screen hasn't changed significantly between versions.

    Shift+F5 to refresh everything including local cache.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
