Remote Audio and Parallels Access

I may have missed mention of this in other posts.  My apologies if it is redundant.

I have been experimenting with remoting my 6500 on LAN and NET using Parallels Access on my iPad and iPhone.  I am having an issue with the receive audio.

When using my Logitech Bluetooth Headset (the same one that Howard uses) the receive audio seems very muted/muffled, with lots of low frequencies and lacking in highs & "sparkle." ...Except when I drag the apple menu up from the bottom or when there is an alert tone from my iphone or ipad.  When that happens, the fidelity is restored to good sound until the menu is dragged back down, or the alert tone dialog box has expired.  Then the sound returns to the previous "muffled" sound.  It requires using the RX EQ to get any good fidelity.

In addition, after this happens, the latency delay (when I am on my own LAN with WiFi) shifts from less than about 200ms to about 3 seconds!  when I transmit with the MOX or VOX, I see the panadaptor display go into transmit, the display rises with my voice, and the rig goes back into RX...all the while my RX audio feed on the iPad continues.  Then a few seconds later I hear the receive audio blank for the time period of my transmission.  When the RX audio returns, it is several seconds behind the display.

If I toggle the "Remote" button off, wait a few seconds for everything to clear, and turn it back on, then the latency returns to the "normal" amount of less than a quarter second. 

If I use the ear bud combo that Apple included with my iPhone, the sound is good.  (I haven't monitored my TX audio with the ear bud mike for comparison yet.  But I was able to adjust EQ/PROC on the Logitech to get a decent audio profile.)

Anyone have an explanation and solution?  

My 6500 and Lenovo desktop (with i3 processor and 6 GB RAM) are connected to a TP-Link Gigaswitch, when is connected to my U-Verse Motorola modem/router in the living room via 50 feet. of CAT6 cable.   Running WIN10 Insider Preview on the desktop, and the latest IOS 8.3 from Apple on my iPad.

Hi Ken, Sounds like a couple of things at once. Just confirming you are using remote audio, not DAX, right? The extra bandwidth requirements of the DAX streams can slow things down mightily, In the Windows VM, do you have enough memory/cores assigned in Parallels? I use 4 Gb RAM and 4 processors, with 512 Mb video RAM. Your mileage may vary. In the Windows Control Panel (Sound settings) have you checked the levels and EQ? I've turned the levels on both the mic and speaker to about 90, with all "enhancements" off. Personal choices, of course. Also, are the Windows devices configured for the same sample rates across your system? 2 channel 48000 on both the Mac's MIDI panel and in Windows. In some cases, though, I have heard that changing the Windows values to "telephone quality" can help save some bandwidth. Worth trying if nothing else works. I did find it helps to build a "remote" TX profile to massage the audio when operating with the iPad. It doesn't have the response of a PR-40, for sure. You might also want to drop the FPS setting in SSDR and minimize the waterfall. That helps speed things up and eases the processor load, too. Hope this helps! See you in Dayton?
